Our Authors

Two people produce everything on this site. Both are named on every page they touch, and neither of them is a stock byline over syndicated copy — you can read what each one does, how they research, and what they refuse to publish.

Between them they cover the two things this site is actually about: whether an operator pays, and what California law says. Everything published here is written by one and reviewed by the other, and our editorial policy sets out the standard both work to.

Why Two People, Not A Masthead

Plenty of sites in this vertical carry a row of interchangeable bylines whose profiles say the same things in the same order. We would rather name two people and let you check what each actually does. Dana researches and writes; Marcus edits and fact-checks every legal claim. No page publishes with only one of them on it, which means every payout figure has been read by someone who chases payment rails for a living and every legal sentence by someone who covered California gaming policy for a regional newspaper.

What Their Names On A Page Commits Us To

A byline here is accountability, not decoration. If a figure on this site is wrong, one of these two got it wrong and will correct it under their own name. Both are reachable at the same address, both handle corrections directly, and neither has ever been given a page to sign off that they did not work on. We publish no author who does not exist as a working part of this desk, and we publish no follower counts, awards, or memberships we cannot point at.
